Calligraphy & Origami Workshop for Vietnamese Students in Tokyo
On June 19, 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting a calligraphy and origami workshop for 26 students from Vietnam at a language school in Tokyo.
For calligraphy, we prepared a personalized kanji template for each student — selecting characters that matched the sounds of their names. It was a truly one-of-a-kind experience for every participant.
Calligraphy Experience
Students began by practicing on washi paper before moving on to their final piece. Watching each student carefully trace the kanji of their own name for the first time was a memorable moment for everyone in the room.
Origami Experience
The crane was the main origami piece of the day. The boys in the group, however, had other ideas — paper airplanes were soon being folded and launched across the room, bringing plenty of laughter along the way.
Both calligraphy and origami offer a wonderful way to connect with Japanese culture in a hands-on, personal way. We hope to welcome more students and groups to these experiences in the future.
