About the Instructor
GreenTeaTokyo is about more than teaching tea ceremony knowledge and etiquette. Our aim is to help people discover tea ceremony and fall a little more in love with Japanese culture — and that spirit shapes every experience we offer.
Having felt firsthand how intimidating tea ceremony can seem to newcomers, I started this on-site service so more people could experience it in a relaxed, approachable way.
Rather than focusing on strict formality, I put the emphasis on a hands-on style where every participant gets to feel the joy of whisking their own matcha.
I’ve delivered authentic tea ceremony experiences across many settings — corporate events, hotel activities, and hospitality for international guests.

Q. What’s the minimum group size?
A. We can accommodate as few as 1 person. Up to 20 people can take part at the same time; larger groups are split into multiple rounds.
Q. How long does it take?
A. Including setup and cleanup, plan for about an hour or more. This can be adjusted based on group size and content — just ask.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. From ¥38,000 (tax included) for the base service fee, plus from ¥3,800 (tax included) per person. The experience fee covers matcha, sweets, and equipment use.
Q. Is English support available?
A. Yes, we can arrange an English-speaking instructor (+¥13,000~). This works well as an activity for visitors to Japan.
Q. What do we need to provide at the venue?
A. Just a table (roughly 100cm × 70cm × 70cm). We bring the full set of equipment, so no other special preparation is needed.
Q. Is it OK if there’s no parking at the venue?
A. Yes, that’s no problem. All our equipment fits into one carry case, and we travel by train — no parking needed.
Q. I can’t sit in seiza (formal kneeling) — is that OK?
A. The session takes place at a table, so seiza isn’t required. You can enjoy the experience comfortably seated in a chair.
Q. How far in advance should we book?
A. We recommend booking at least 10 days before your desired date. Feel free to reach out even for last-minute requests.
Q. Is there a cancellation fee?
A. Cancellations are free up to 7 days before the event. Fees apply as follows: 5 days before – 20%, the day before – 50%, on the day – 100%.
