Which Matcha Bowl Will You Choose? A Relaxed Tea Experience in Your Office

When people think of a matcha experience, they often picture something formal — a set place, a set ritual, a set way of doing things.

But at GreenTeaTokyo, our goal is about more than teaching the rules of tea ceremony.

It’s about giving people their first moment of connection with Japanese culture — that feeling of “this is actually fun” or “I didn’t know tea could be like this.”

So for this office matcha session, we added a little something extra.

“Which bowl would you like to use?”

We brought a selection of matcha bowls — each one different in color, shape, and pattern.

Before anything else, we invited each participant to choose the bowl they wanted to use.

“Oh, I love this one.”

“This color is so pretty.”

“Hmm, I can’t decide…”

And just like that, the conversation started — before a single drop of matcha had been whisked.

No prior knowledge of tea ceremony needed.

Just pick the bowl you like. That’s enough to make the experience your own.

Which bowl would you choose?

Enjoyment first, etiquette second

Our matcha sessions aren’t designed to teach you every rule of the tea ceremony from scratch.

Tea ceremony has a rich history and a beautiful set of movements — and we respect that deeply.

But we don’t think you need to master it all before you’re allowed to enjoy it.

Whisk your own matcha.

Choose your own bowl.

Hold a chasen for the first time.

Ask questions. Talk about Japan.

These small moments are what spark a genuine interest in Japanese culture.

We’re not here to teach tea ceremony — we’re here to make you fall in love with it.

Your bowl, your matcha, your moment

A matcha bowl is, at its most basic, a vessel for tea.

But in the world of tea ceremony, choosing a bowl that suits the season, the mood, or the occasion is part of the pleasure.

You don’t need to know any of that to enjoy it.

“I just liked this one” is a perfectly good reason.

And somehow, drinking matcha from a bowl you chose yourself makes it taste just a little bit better.

Bring the tea ceremony to your office

You don’t need a tea room. You don’t need a tatami floor.

GreenTeaTokyo brings the full experience to you — corporate events, team-building sessions, guest hospitality, welcome parties, and more.

All you need is a table and a few chairs.

Not Japanese culture you watch from a distance — Japanese culture you actually take part in.

So, which bowl will you pick?
