Matcha Experience on a Cruise or Yakatabune | Mobile Tea Ceremony in Tokyo — No Parking, 30-Min Setup
Planning a tea ceremony experience for a cruise or river boat event — but worried about tight boarding times and limited space?
GreenTeaTokyo is a mobile tea ceremony service that travels by train with all equipment in a single carry-on suitcase. No parking, no large equipment trucks — just a flexible, compact setup that works even on cruises and yakatabune with strict boarding schedules.
Common Challenges for On-Board Events
Organizing an event on a boat comes with unique constraints that land venues don’t have.
- Limited time before boarding or departure — no time for lengthy setup
- No parking or loading bay at the pier
- Restricted space on board — large equipment is not an option
- Other providers have declined due to logistical difficulty
These are exactly the situations where GreenTeaTokyo’s compact, train-based setup stands out.
Why We Can Handle Cruises and Yakatabune
Everything Fits in One Carry-On Suitcase
All of our equipment fits in a single carry-on suitcase. Our instructor travels by train, so there is no need to arrange parking or vehicle access at the pier. We arrive just like any other guest — on foot.
Fully Set Up 30 Minutes Before the Session
Because there is no heavy equipment to move, our setup time is minimal. We arrive 30 minutes before the session and are fully ready to go well within that time — even when boarding windows are tight or pre-departure schedules are packed.
Full Experience Without the Bulky Add-Ons
When space or weight is a concern, we run the experience without the iron kettle or floor mat options. We bring all the essentials — tea bowls, chasen whisks, matcha, and Japanese sweets. All the venue needs to provide is a table and chairs.
What Kind of Events Is This Good For?
A tea ceremony on the water is a uniquely memorable experience. It works well for:
- Corporate parties and anniversary events — an unforgettable experience in an extraordinary setting
- International VIP hospitality and inbound tourism — Tokyo scenery and Japanese culture in one
- Wedding after-parties — a special touch for guests on a celebratory cruise
- Team building — a fresh environment that brings teams together
English-speaking staff is available as an add-on (+¥13,000~) for groups with international guests.
How It Works (Example Flow)
We work around your boarding and departure schedule. The flow below is just an example — we’ll adjust to fit your timeline.
- Before boarding: Instructor arrives at the pier with one carry-on suitcase and boards with the group.
- Before departure: Table setup takes approximately 15 minutes. Arriving 30 minutes before the session start means everything is ready with time to spare.
- Session: Instructor explains the basics of tea ceremony and demonstrates. Each participant whisks their own matcha and enjoys it with a Japanese sweet.
- After the session: Instructor handles all cleanup — no burden on the venue or event staff.
Pricing
Base pricing: Mobile service fee from ¥38,000 (tax included) + experience fee from ¥3,800 per person (tax included).
The same pricing applies for cruise and yakatabune events. Final cost depends on location, group size, and any add-ons. Feel free to reach out for a quote — preliminary budget inquiries are welcome too.
Note: An additional travel fee (¥6,600~) applies for venues outside Tokyo’s 23 wards.
